Bethesda boss Todd Howard confirmed that Fallout 5 will be Bethesda Game Studio's next big RPG after The Elder Scrolls VI, which means we aren't going to be seeing it for a very long time.
Howard previously confirmed that Bethesda would focus on The Elder Scrolls VI, after Starfield launched. This has now happened, of course, and sure enough: The Elder Scrolls VI has entered full development.
Take a look at Starfield in action below!
Is it too soon to be thinking about The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5? Almost certainly. Starfield has literally just come out, so we should probably let Bethesda breathe for a little bit. Still, it's good news for fans of the studio's post-apocalyptic series that a sequel is coming eventually.

The only bad news is that we probably won't see The Elder Scrolls VI until at least 2028, which means Fallout 5 shouldn't be expected until we're deep into the 2030s. I can barely think ahead to next week, let alone next decade.
"Yes, Elder Scrolls VI is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while," Howard told IGN. "We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well."
Howard previously revealed to IGN that Bethesda already has an idea for Fallout 5. "Fallout's really part of our DNA here," he said. "We've worked with other [developers] from time to time – I can't say say what's gonna happen. You know, we have a one-pager on Fallout 5, what we want to do."
Exactly what big ideas Bethesda has for the next Fallout game? We'll have to wait and see. I'd hope the team looks at the excellent total conversion mod Fallout London for some inspiration, though, because that fan-made effort is looking absolutely incredible.
